One of the World's Most Reproduced Photos

The image of the flag being raised on Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945 is one of the most iconic photographs of all time. The image, captured by Joe Rosenthal, is still providing inspiration to a new generation thanks to posters and t-shirts sporting the famous photo. The photo Rosenthal, who joined the Associated Press as a reporter after he was rejected by the Army because of poor eyesight, took shows a U.S. Navy corpsman along with five U.S. Marines raising a U.S. flag on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima.

The photograph has since been reprinted thousands of times, winning a Pulitzer Prize for photography. The photo became one of the most recognizable images associated with World War II. Some consider it to be the most reproduced photo of all time. Times have changed greatly since the image was captured, but the sense of pride and patriotism it evokes remains. Rosenthal’s photograph, also used as a popular image following 9/11, continues to be a way to honor those who sacrificed so much so we can enjoy our freedoms.

  1. Excellent customer service, I purchased a bathroom vanity from another retailer but they failed to notify me it was out of stock so I found their Downtown Designs addison store online. Called them to ask if the vanity I was interested in was in stock and it was. Ordered it right there and they were able to deliver the bathroom vanity same day so my contractors could finish my bathroom.
