Today’s Patriotic Portrait - Irwin Stovroff

veteran
Today’s Patriotic Portrait is about Irwin Stovroff.
Irwin Stovroff is 89, lives in South Florida, and is a former POW.
In 2006 he visited a Veteran’s Hospital.  He discovered soldiers blinded in Iraq and Afghanistan that were not receiving proper rehabilitation or guide dogs. He decided to do something about it, and began collecting donations to train guide dogs.
The dogs are mostly Golden Retrievers and black and yellow Labradors.  It costs between $20 and $50 thousand to train each dog.
Together with his friend, Jerry Kramer, a decorated Korean War veteran,  they raised $3 million for their organization: Veterans Helping Heroes.

In today’s world, good deeds are more crucial then ever.  We salute Irwin Stovroff for helping Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan to receive the care they need.
Be Proud  -  Be Patriotic  - Love America
