200th Avenniversary of The Star Spangled Banner

200 years ago, on September 14, Francis Scott Key watched US troops defend the city of Baltimore against the British and wrote  what would eventually become our national anthem.
Jordin Sparks sang "the Star Spangled Banner" during the 200th anniversary celebration at Fort Mchenry Saturday night.
That's the spot that endured the British bombardment during the War of 1812.
The hoisting of the American flag over the fort inspired Francis Scott Key to write the poem which was originally entitled "Defence of Fort M'henry."
Later, it was set to the tune of a British song.
Eventually, on March 3rd, 1931, Congress passed a resolution making "the Star Spangled Banner,” our national anthem.
